Co-operation with Orange Park Saab

Co-operation with Orange Park Saab

Postby Saabhelp » Mon Jul 26, 2010 5:29 pm

Been in contact with Mr Quattrocchi of Orange Park SAAB. HE would like for us to all assemble and have a meet there some time.
He is asking if they can get involved in the club.
How do the members feel about this?

Back in June I spoke with someone about NEFLSC being present for some photo ops or something with O.P. Saab doing an official unvieling of the new 9-5. He said he would get back to me.(don't remember his name)
But then I was getting ready for vacation, then on vacation, then fixing my car, back to work, autocrossing, excuse, excuse, excuse.... and I never followed up on it.

If we can have some friendly co-operation, and be willing to support each other, I think working with Orange Park Saab could be one of the best things for both them AND us.

How is this dealer's reputation?

EVERY car dealer has horror stories... we're not going to find any car dealer that everybody thinks is great... but in general, do they at least TRY to make customers happy? Is their service department competant?

Here's how I see it: We can be great word of mouth advertising for them... and give them a nice prescence around the region. They can give us credibility, corporate recognition, and maybe buy the hot dogs and hamburgers once per year.

Win-Win.... IF they aren't the most hated dealer in town.

I think it is a great idea. In order to maximize attendance, I think we might need to pick a date a couple months out from now so everyone can put it on their calendars then work on all the details as the date approaches. Since July is almost over :(, I would love to see this occur on a Saturday in mid-October. It will be a little cooler out then too!

Glenn, to answer your question, OP Saab has only been in existence a few months. I don't think they've been around long enough to have a reputation. They used to be owned by Nimnicht, and in my opinion, they were not so hot, but we had others here who had good experiences with them. I'd be for giving them the benefit of the doubt for now.

I think that a date in the fall when it is cooler would be great. I bought my current (and former) Saab from this dealership. I also still have it serviced over there since it is still under the factory warranty. Its been touch and go but they seem committed to the brand. It would be great to do something with them.

OK, upon further examination, it seems we're answering 2 different questions.

So my answers are yes, let's have a meet at the dealership sometime... anytime is fine with me.

And yes, I would be interested in some sort of co-operative efforts between us (NEFLSC) and the dealer (OP Saab) to promote the brand.

To ALL SAAB'ers,

Would it NOT be terrrific if we could bring our poor, tired, (hopefully washed) rides to Orange Park to complement the premiere release of the NEW 9-5?
I would DEFINITELY be interested in test driving the all wheel drive AERO! Do you think there is any chance the Orange Park dealer would entertain our group for a closed introduction to the new 9-5? Might even consider inviting local press to cover the event.

Don't worry, I clean up pretty well!

All SAAB'ers,

Perhaps Mr Quattrocchi of Orange Park SAAB might EVEN consider asking the manufacturer for some additional, or matching Sales promotional support to show the new 9-5 directly to a group of owners dedicated to the marque.

This is kinda what I had in mind.... invite the press... have hors de'overs and ginger ale... balloons and streamers.... some videos playing of some Saab heritage videos, "Save Saab" rally photos, interviews with VM and JAJ... all centered around a 9-5 under a cover in the showroom.

A Saab rep or dealer owner could make a short speech... thank you for coming... important day in Saab history... new era of Saab cars for Saab drivers.... looking forward to working closely with our clients and fanbase, such as the Northeast Florida Saab Club... yada yada...

Pull the cover off... photos, handshakes, smiles, test drives.

I'm all for a joint event at OP. Initially, I have had good experiences with their service department, but only time will tell how good they really are. Obviously, as a new car dealer, they will be very expensive for any repairs outside of warranty work. Let me know if I can help with dealer coordination, since I know a few folks there. Can't wait to see the new 9-5 in person!

Saabhelp, GB24Hours, et al:

Do you suppose we should all wear NEFLSC t-shirts for the grand event? (...he said smiling and puffing his chest- -just got mine this week!)

I am very much looking forward to the new 9-5's grand unveiling, not to mention the possibility of test driving it.

I'm having a hard time getting a hold of the lady at Saab of OP, but I left her a message today. The number Ted gave me seems to be a dead end. They already have a new 9-5 in stock over there (16mpg city!), so I am not sure if we missed the boat on that one. :?
