Saturday, October 23, 2010 - Save the Date!

http://www.daytonabeachdreamcruise.com/

Looking for more participation this year... you don't have to have a "show" car to join the fun. Let's just show our pride in the brand we love.

GB24Hours,

I think I just might show up at 1:00 PM, Saturday afternoon for the "Cruise 92", that is, UNLESS other NEFLSC members have a plan to run as a group. GEE, what a concept!!!!

Unfortunately, my wife has made plans for me that day. Sorry I'll miss out on this one. It was fun last year.

Not going for our own lot this year... up until these 2 or 3 posts, it looked like I would be the only one attending!

The organisers moved the 'Cruise Route' from A1A to US 92 (International Speedway Blvd.), and there are plenty of BIG parking lots that I suspect most of the cars will park. If you remember, it seemed most of the cars just stayed at the Volusia Mall last year, where the check-in photos were taken.... so maybe they're just going with the flow and organising the route in THAT area.

I was going to try to snag a few spaces at the College lot that is available ( http://www.daytonabeachdreamcruise.com/ ... itemap.pdf ), but if it is too packed, there are plenty of other spots to potentially gather. I'll be there fairly early.

I used to envision this as one of our club's "signature" events, but it has been difficult to garner any interest.

If anybady wants to gather, lets exchange cell numbers via PM so we can find each other in the crowds.

I was there last year with my black convert. Let's see if I can make it this year... I would like to know meeting location and time..for Saturday?? Or If no home base, how to meet up with the group??

PS - the head unit AM/FM Casette lost connection with my 5 CD in trunk. Anyone can help me with a Tech II to re-mate them??

thanks, JayM - Jax

Hi Jay. Hope to see you again.

I'm going to head out sort-of early... maybe getting there by 8:30 or 9:00. I'm going to go through the check-in process at the mall and have the photo taken, then head over to Daytona State College to find some space. If that doesn't work out, I may end up in the K-mart lot. I'll PM out my cell #... if anybody wants it, PM me with yours as well, please.

As far as the Tech-II goes, I wish I had one.

[color=#0000BF]Uhhhhhh... RIGHT!

The proof is in the pudding;

GB24hours - Glenn
Senor Don - Don
JayMJax - Jay

We were there and REALLY missed you!!!! An incredible assortment of vehicles, British sports cars, lead sleds, muscle cars, restored commercial farm trucks. and customs. WOW!

Please make an effort to join us at the NEXT club event. We felt kinda left out, (especially when we saw 25+ Mustang guys from the local club).

Happy Trails!

Hey, glad someone was there to keep Glenn company. Very sorry I missed it, but I had to take my son to a big Fall Festival up near the GA line yesterday. In other words, I had to go the opposite direction.

Ok, thanks for the guilt trip!

I think perhaps we need to get out the word out to people outside the club next year. Invite the Tampa Saab club, etc. Also, to be honest, most of our cars would look silly down there with all those show cars. I think that is a big reason for lack of turnout.

So, you think those Crossfires are better than our Saabs?

SHOW SOME PRIDE!

I feel that ONE of our many purposes as a club is to promote the brand. Ask Jay or Don about the condition of many of the cars at the cruise. Your current 9-5 would be JUST FINE in a "Saab Corral" of 10 or 12 vehicles. And a group of Saabs together like that might make just a FEW people out of the several thousand in attendance think, "Hey, those cars are pretty cool." And if they think THAT, maybe they'll consider looking at Saab for their next purchase.

This was a CRUISE-IN, not a "Car Show". No entry fees or complex registration. There were cars of ALL condition there.

Shows with PAID entries are much different.

Just my opinion. I'll drop it.

i understand what your saying with the dismal turn out, but what about the numbers of other euro/jap cars? the dream cruise kinda seams like a "american show"

but im still sorry i couldnt make it.

You have a point, GB. I didn't really realize the difference. Again, I was not able to attend anyway, but I would be more inclined to attend if I knew my car was among a larger group of other SAABs. Possibly others feel the same. I don't know. We'll give it a better shot next year, I hope. I enjoyed it last year, but more as a spectator than anything else.

Hmmmm.... I answered this several days ago... guess I didn't hit "Submit".

1st, again, it's not a "show". It is a Cruise-In. All makes and models, any year.

As for foriegn cars, there were plenty. A group of 5 or 6 original Morris Minis. The usual gaggle of tuned Evo's and STi's. An Eclipse on which EVERYTHING was neon green, and it had more money in the sound system than the value of the car itself. Several older Mercedes'. Several BMW's including a nice white 2002 (not the year, the model) A group of 3 Lexus IS's, including a cool SportWagon.

Plenty more.

Catch-22. If the club doesn't participate, we won't have a large group of Saabs.... therefore the club won't participate, because we don't have a large group of Saabs. (boggle)
