Brake line fabrication

I pulled the interior out of my 1967 96v4 to do some rust prevention and I found a pin hole leak in one of the lines for the rear brakes. So I thought I might tackle fabricating new brake lines but I could use some guidance from someone who has done this before.

What is the best way to remove the line? Bend it up a little and pull it out of the trunk of the car, somehow pull it forward through the engine compartment, or hack it up into pieces?

And for installing a newly fabricated line, the same kind of question. Feed it from the front, the rear, or do it in pieces with couplers?

As a general rule, more pieces means more places for leaks.

As for specifics for THAT car.... I got nuthin'.
