Saaber Lurking in Seminole County

Postby NinetySixTears » Thu Dec 22, 2011 7:48 am

Greetings! I recently came across this merry little band by fortuitous accident. I work in aerospace, and I was impressed years ago by the engineering of Saabs. Where else could I see Torx fasteners on a car for the people, for instance? Well, the Saab 96 has them all over. Why is this important? Anyone who has dealt with a Phillips head and had to use an impact driver will know. I like the old and simple stuff. This is why a 95 wagon from 1969 and a 96 sedan from 1973 have been sufficient for me. I can't cope with chasing my tail over an ECU.
I moved up to a 1992 non-turbo 900 4 years ago, and was really impressed by its carrying capacity. Its former owner had hit a curb, however, and it wasn't ever really right. Then came a 1992 Turbo Convertible, and the addictive rush when it comes on boost in 3rd and 4th. I really like this car, and putting the top down on A1A, but I am now trying to sell it, even though it came from California and is rust-free, because what I consider the ultimate crossed my path--a red, rust-free 1991 SPG from New Mexico. This car has been tweaked, and the torque in the upper gears is unbelievable. I still have the V-4 cars, and will get back to them one day soon, I hope. In the meantime, love that boost!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

I hope to join you in St. Augustine Jan. 2, if I can get back from Tennessee in time. Too bad that at 5pm we will be running out of daylight, though.

Cheers,
Ted II
