Cadillac/Saab of Orange Park

Postby Fishhyren11 » Thu Oct 28, 2010 5:45 pm

First off I'd like to give a little background on my car since I'm not on here that often...

2006 red 9-3 Aero (2.8T)
45k miles -- Still under warranty until December.

I purchased my 9-3 from Scott Saab down in Tampa, because at the time, it was the only manual Aero with light interior on the whole east coast.
They would not ship it up here.

Since then, I've taken the 30mile journey each way from my house to get service done at what Nimnich/Saab of OP.
I've never been super impressed with the service there, each time I had a warranty issue (common issues), I'd have to come pick my car up and come back a week later for the part.
I know they can't stock all the parts, but for items that are common for the v6 like the coolant tank or radio knobs, there is no reason I should have to come back.

Each time was something different, either they forgot to reset the oil indicator, forgot to give me an oil change, etc.

Yesterday I brought in for an oil change and a few common issues such as front suspension creaking, squeaking clutch, a loud AC whine, etc.

They could not reproduce the AC whine or a loud bang that occurs while turning/breaking. Fare enough, but there is a Defect investigation on fractured springs, did they even check? No.

I also have an issue where the oil light comes on during highway trips longer than 1 hour. Each time the oil is at the right level.
I also have loud clicking lifters but was told it's only because it's not warmed up.

I was told that I already have the latest flash to fix the low oil light (although it obviously is still happening for me), and loud lifters. Could this possibly be a bad oil pump? They didn't check pressure, just said the code didn't come up after an oil change (though they didn't drive it an hour on the highway).

When I received my car today the rear emblem had been peeled since it had been there, and there was a scuff on the mirror.
They buffed out the scuff but it took almost an hour for them to replace the emblem.

Bad customer service all around.
And why do the Saab synthetic oil changes cost more???? It's the SAME EXACT engine that's in the 2010 cadillac SRX.

Anyways, I have a feeling they would have looked more closely into the clicking, etc if it wasn't under warranty...

Thoughts?
Where can I go for repairs from now on??
Thanks,
-Scott

Scott, I remember your beautiful 9-3 from the Save SAAB rally back in January (or was if February?). Glad you're still with us.

Sorry to hear about your experiences with SAAB of OP. I think you have some legit complaints. As far as warranty work, I guess you'll have to try other dealers. There is one in Gainesville and one in Orlando. Those are by far the closest.

Once you get out of warranty, you may want to try AIT, in Jacksonville, where we met for the rally back in January.

And THIS is why we need a relationship with Saab Orange Park.

A dealer with any sense at all would want to address a situation like this, and at least TRY to make things right. But instead, they have a frustrated PAYING customer, legitimately venting his frustration on this Saab Enthusiast message board.

Saab of Orange Park.... if you WANT to help your Saab franchise survive and thrive, get a representative in here to adress these types of concerns, and work WITH your fan base.... not against us.

First and fore-most, let me start by saying I HATE GOING TO THE DEALER. Granted, The Viggen is WAAAAY out of warranty, but I do think I have some thing to add here.

It is kinda a long story, but it goes into how willing to fix a mistake Massey Saab in Orlando is.

Take the Viggen in for no A/C, a week later and alot of parts and a couple thousand dollars lighter I get the car back...A/C works great all the way home. Get in the car to go to work...warm air.

Take it back...more parts and few more hundred dollars, same thing.

So, now I'm BEYOND pissed...just happen to be in that part of town for work (FOX News, big van, camera, reporter, fancy logo on my shirt, etc..) go complain to GM (his name is bill hull, should you want to send him a "love letter") They offer to PICK UP THE VIGGEN, AND rent me a car until they get it right.

I can tell you a few things...I drove the snot out of their Chevy HHR for 6 weeks while they f'ed with the Viggen...no more A/C problems, and after spending close to 4 grand...they didn't charge me a dime.

So the moral of the story is, "If you want good service from a dealer, have a TV news crew come along with you when you talk to the service writer."

I also think part of it is they deal in mostly Cadillac and a much older clientele.
I think because I'm younger, and look fairly young for my age they don't take me seriously. They need to realize that we ARE their demographic for Saab...

Yeah, the thing is I'm not going to be buying from a place that I KNOW has crappy customer service after I buy the car.

Yes, she is high energy. In fact, Kim just called me to inform me they just got a 2007 9-5 in. Too bad I bought a 9-3 back in December, but I was impressed that she actually followed through on my request to be informed if they got a car in in my price range.

Okay, so it's come time to do a 60k service (Serp Belt, Tranny Flush), and I'm not comfortable with taking the side of my car off to get to the belt.
For the 60k service at SoOP it runs ~ $700.
I was hoping to take it to AIT, but when I called the number it said it was out of service??

Where do people go besides the stealership to get service done?

Yes, Ted was unfortunately forced to close AIT due to health concerns.

You may see him here, though:

Blackbolt,

For those of us in the Orlando area, again let me heartily recommend SWEDECENTRAL.COM (407) 599-4900 in Winter Park, FL. Guy Fisk, manager and lead tech Bobby Hamilton have been with SAAB since the 70's. Both were with BILL BRYAN SAAB, then the successor, MASSEY CADILLAC SAAB before going independent a few years ago. Check them out!

I bought my 9000 CD from Bill Bryan SAAB and I know those guys at Swedecentral.com and they are good! So is Ted Miller at Franz Foreign Car up on Arlington Expressway. Price is pretty good for SAAB service (parts are always the issue).
