Float Your Fannie Down The...

Postby TheDude » Mon Sep 12, 2011 1:43 pm

My wife and a few friends are making a trip Saturday (9/17) morning over to Ichetucknee Springs for the day. It's a nice drive and thought I would invite the Saab club. It would be very informal. We went last year after season and had a great time. Note: the park runs on a skeleton crew this time of year (ie. no one was there last year when we went) and you are kind of on your own. We picked up tubes before we got there and drove in. You have to walk back after your float (about a .5 mile or so). There is plenty of room for a picnic. I'll update this as the week goes along.

Tentative Schedule

8:30am -Meet Up Saturday

Meet at Gate Gas Station/McDonalds on SR16 and I-95 in St. Augustine. (Just East when you exit I-95)

Stock up on supplies and head on over. I believe it takes about an hour.

If anyone knows more, let me know. I've only been once and forget when I went. It may be more crowded as it is still warm out.

I have friends who have spent a day there... sounds like a good time!

Thanks for posting this... we need more people to post like this. Sorry I can't make it, though. Pop Warner football with my son Sat. morning.

Have fun!

Wow! Great idea, James. Wish I had seen this sooner. Tubing Ichitucknee is one of the things you MUST do if you live in NEFL. It's a really good way to get up close and personal with "The Real Florida." I've done it many times since childhood and can't wait to do it again when/if my son ever learns to swim. Doing it at a time like this when no one is around is even better. I did not actually know tubing was allowed there at this time of year.

Wish I could be there tomorrow. I hope it goes well and that you don't get rained out.

Hope you get well soon, Nick.
